Flood Floors

Plants in pots or cell packs are grown on specially shaped concrete floors that can be flooded for short periods of time.

The plants are thoroughly irrigated without being waterlogged. Unused water returns to a reservoir for recirculation.
Flood Floors are normally combined with floor heat. Separate control of root and foliage temperatures helps fine-tune plant growth while reducing dependence on chemicals.

TrueLeaf Flood Floors: Tried and Proven

• A wide range of crops respond favorably to sub-irrigation.
• Extremely even water levels result in uniform crops.
• Zero runoff eliminates pollution.
• No wasted water or fertilizer.
• Dry foliage reduces diseases.
• Short watering periods prevent transfer of fungus spores.
• Open growing space permits excellent flexibility and fast movement of crops.
• Simple design: reliability and low maintenance.
• Good sanitation is easy to maintain.
• Labor for watering is practically eliminated.
• Payback in quality crops, ease of operation, low maintenance, and compliance with environmental regulations.

How TrueLeaf Flood Floors work:

1. The 1000-6000 sq. ft. watering sections are slightly pitched.

2. Section after section is gently and evenly filled with 1-2 inches of water.

3. Drainage is quick and complete.

4. Flexible rubber barriers contain the water on the floors while permitting unobstructed traffic.

5. Combined fill-and drain time per section is 6-10 minutes.

6. The service area constitutes the heart of the Flood Floor system. Pumps, filters and controls are combined in a compact, convenient unit. Reservoirs are located under or above ground.

7. Individual fertilizer mixes can be applied to each floor section

8. Return water from the floors is practically unchanged in its composition; simple fertilizer mixing equipment can be used when refilling the reservoirs or constant recirculation and monitoring can be provided using a TrueFeed system.

9. System controls operate independently or can be integrated with greenhouse computers.

TrueLeaf Flood Floors are individually designed to fit any greenhouse or outdoor growing situation, new or existing structure, large or small.

Existing systems can easily be expanded by adding more floor sections.

TrueLeaf provides proven design, step-by-step information and custom manufactured key components.

Each construction process is tailored to the grower's specific needs and circumstances.

On-site technical assistance enhances cooperation with contractors and greenhouse staff.
