Flood
floors from the ground up.
Flood Floors are designed for plants
in pots or in cell packs. They are placed on 50/50 Slag Mix
concrete floors
that are flooded for the perfect length of time, then drained. The floors are flooded with water or a combination of
fertilizer solutions. It should be noted that each floor
section can have its own fertilizer mix as it requires.
The water rises upwards in the soil medium through capillary
action allowing the plants to be irrigated without being
waterlogged. The water is controlled to fill each section,
gently and evenly with one to two inches of water. The
combined fill and drain time per section is usually between
six to ten minutes. The unused water then is returned to
a reservoir for recirculation.
Flood floors are normally heated. It has been found that
the control of root and foliage temperature expedites plant
growth while reducing dependence on chemicals.
