“Choose your down times for upgrades to your greenhouse systems.” Gordon Berkenpas— owner of Greendorr Greenhouses, Inc. of Dorr, Michigan believes we all should “choose our down times” for upgrades to our greenhouse systems. The boiler system upgrade for a new boiler and BioTherm MicroClimate system was scheduled and planned for 2003-2004. Gordon’s previous boiler was in place for 17 years and on its very last leg, running at about 60% efficiency on a good day. It was time for Gordon to seek advice on what boiler technology was available.

Gordon spoke to his local Vriesland Growers co-op representative Peter Schreiber ( TrueLeaf Technologies dealer) located in the Hudsonville, Michigan area. Peter told Gordon Berkenpas about the new Munchkin series high-efficiency boilers with efficiency of up to 99.8%. This piqued Gordon’s interest and he wanted to speak to the TrueLeaf technical consultant, Larry Moore. 		 
A Greenhouse site meeting was planned the following week with Larry Moore (TrueLeaf Technologies), Peter Schreiber (Vriesland Co-op) and Gordon Berkenpas. All aspects of the boiler and also the integration of a MicroClimate heating system were discussed in detail. By the end of the meeting, Gordon made the choice to proceed with the high efficiency boiler, and was very confident in TrueLeaf because he had heard nothing but good things about the company.
