“It’s very intense production activity we do in these houses
and the Duofin system stands up well.”

Welby Gardens in Denver Colorado, owned by the Gerace family, is the home of HardyBoy Bedding Plants, a well known brand name in the Denver area garden centers and surrounding states.

In recent years, Welby Gardens has also established an aggressive rooting program primarily focused in their West Facility which is their second location.

Welby Gardens currently has about twenty-two acres of production in three facilities plus three retail garden centers. This project consisted of retrofitting old greenhouses to propagation. Using existing steam boilers, TrueLeaf supplied the overall design and engineering as well as tube heat exchangers to convert steam to hot water as the heat source for TrueLeaf’s Duofin heatpipe under the benches.

When asked about his satisfaction with the amount of heat and how even it was, Jim’s response: “Awesome. Very even heating everywhere on the bench.” Jim had some definite opinions regarding the value of good heat. “I can get more turns out of some crops in the twelve week season and that easily pays for the extra heat.”

“When I have a root, I’m in control and can manage the plant. Without a root all of the external factors of the environment are in control. So the sooner I can get a root, the better control I have and can get a higher quality plant faster.”
